BLUE NOTEの膨大なカタログから選りすぐりのアイテムを、ジャケット／盤／レーベル面／インナースリーヴ等、オリジナル盤に沿った形で忠実にアナログ盤復刻。

1950、60年代当時のプレスマシーンを使用することにより生じるDEEP GROOVE（溝）の再現。

RVGサウンドに近づけようとはせず、素のマスターテープに記録された音をそのまま盤に刻み込まれた。（モノラル音源）。
録音現場のそのままの生々しい音の記録をリアルに再生可能。現代の最先端技術を駆使して甦った「もうひとつのオリジナル盤」

ケニー・ドリューの1960年録音、リーダー7作目。
1953年に10インチで初リーダー作を記録したケニー・ドリューは、60年再びブルーノートにリーダー作『アンダーカレント』を吹き込んだ。
前作とは異なり、今回は全曲オリジナル。
フレディ・ハバードとハンク・モブレーを従え、アグレッシヴなソロを展開している。タイトル曲が秀逸。
押し寄せる波の渦を連想させるような激しいピアノのイントロに続き、ホーンがキレのいいテーマを奏で、どんどんテンションが上がっていく。その迫力に息を呑む。 

ストレイト・アヘッド・ビバップ・ピアニストの第一人者ドリューはこの作品以降1970年代に入るまでリーダー作を録音しなかったが、本作は当時の大人気だった2つのバンドCannonball Adderleyのバンド(Sam Jones とLouis Hayes) と Art Blakey"s Jazz Messengers (Hank MobleyとFreddie Hubbard)が交差したハード・バップが繰り広げられる中でDrewの粋なピアノ・ソロも満喫できる作品。

数多くのブルーノート盤に貢献した名手ケニー・ドリューが、ハード・バッパーとしての本領を発揮した珠玉の作品。ハードボイルドでブルース・フィーリングたっぷりの熱演を披露する。
